Mr Y,
Functional people recognize that the BPs rage is not
within the realm of sane behavior.
Functional people do not tolerate crazy behavior, so
"staying cool" might not really be a success.
Think of it this way...if each 5 minutes of rage were
equal to a beer...the "staying cool" approach might
lead you towards becoming an alcoholic.
